Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon & boat trippick-up 7 AM/14.5 hrs (A10)

Combine spectacular views and natural phenomena with the opportunity for a short boat ride on this stunning glacial lagoon.

On the way from Reykjavik to Skaftafell you can find some of Iceland's most beautiful natural wonders, among these Skaftafell Mountain is one of the highlights. From here, you can stand and take in a view of Iceland's tallest mountain, the 2110 meter tall Hvannadalshnjúkur, surrounded by 3 glaciers.

The journey continues onto Jökulsárlon, a glacial lagoon created by the melting ice from the Breidmerkurjökull glacier. we will take a short boat trip on the lagoon, as we will spend around 2 hours in the area. You may recognize the lagoon from scenes in Batman Begins, Tomb Raider and two James Bond movies.

On the way back towards Skaftafell the landscape beneath the glaciers is largely black volcanic sand and gravel, a sight worth seeing and an interesting journey.

We stop at the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljandsá river, which has its origins in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to walk behind it. Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls walk over to Þórsmörk. The waterfall was also used in the films Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

We will also stop at Vík í Mýrdal for dinner and there you can walk to the black sand beach and see the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt.

Coach transfers, pick-up from hotel in Reykjavík 30 minutes prior to departure, including a short boat trip. Due to the coach being large, some pick-up might not be made directly in front of your hotel due to narrow streets. Dinner in Vík.
